Master of Arts
| The Department of Music offers a stand-alone Masters of Arts with an emphasis in conducting.
Doctoral emphases are inclusive of Master of Arts course work and, upon
meeting specific requirements, candidates receive a Master of Arts
degree as part of the doctoral program. The first year is focused on
core course work, and the
second year generally is devoted to preparation for the qualifying
examination and, for the emphasis in musicology or ethnomusicology, a monograph of substantial scope; for the emphasis in composition/theory, a substantial composition. |
