WELCOME TO OUR
2012-2013 SEASON

The UC Davis University Chorus has approximately 100 memberscomprised of students and faculty of the University of California at Davis and members of the community at large—and presents concerts of both a cappella and accompanied works of considerable variety ranging from the Baroque to the 21st century. Twice each academic year, it joins with the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra to perform large-scale works, often including guest vocal soloists. A list of recently performed works can be found by clicking on the link in the left column. Performances are held on the Davis campus in Jackson Hall of the Mondavi Center. Jeffrey Thomas is the conductor.

The Alumni Chorus was founded in 2002 by Jeffrey Thomas in order to extend an invitation to alumni of the UC Davis choral programs to join the University Chorus and Chamber Singers in their inaugural performance in the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Over the last few years, the Alumni Chorus has evolved into an integral part of the concert seasons of the Department of Music. Works performed in recent years include the Requiems by Verdi and Brahms, Berlioz's Te Deum, Mahler's Second Symphony, and Orff's Carmina Burana. Meeting over the course of one long weekend per year, the reunions have brought joy to the participants, and have served as a means for some to reconnect with previous friends and professors. The next Alumni Chorus Reunion dates have been set. Click here for information.

The Chamber Singers are a select group of 20 to 32 singers. Their repertoire focuses on Baroque, Classical, and contemporary repertoire, often performing with guest instrumentalists. Accompanied by period instruments when appropriate, the Chamber Singers have collaborated with the UC Davis Baroque Ensemble, and with members of the American Bach Soloists. [n.b. this course is not offered during the 2012-2013 academic year]
