Carolyn O'Brien Wins 2007 Larsen Composition Prize
Graduate student Carolyn O’Brien won the 2007 Libby Larsen Prize for Widget, an ensemble piece for viola, bass, and percussion. The cash prize is awarded by the International Alliance for Women in Music as part of its annual Search for New Music by Women Composers, with categories ranging from chamber and orchestral works to electroacoustic media and improvisation. The Larsen Prize is for composers in any medium who are currently enrolled in school.
