Barnhart, Head, Music Department Library The Music Library is located in Room 112C, Music Building, and houses a listening facility as well as an extensive recording collection consisting of over 10,000 compact discs and music-related videos in a variety of formats. There is a collection of standard reference materials, including music dictionaries and encyclopedias, thematic catalogs, foreign language dictionaries, and study scores. Loan periods and restrictions are found in the circulation policy and vary by patron status. The Music Library also holds class reserve materials, both printed and recorded, for department classes. Library staff assists students in locating and using reserve materials. Inquire at the circulation desk. The UC Davis General Library has partnered with the Music Department to offer streaming audio via Alexander Street Press. This online resource consists of three databases of music and sounds totaling well over 100,000 tracks: Classical Music Library, Smithsonian Global Sound, and African American Song. The main campus library, Peter J. Shields Library, has complete reference materials, a definitive collection of scores and books about music, and photocopying facilities.Links
