David Dennen

David Dennen

David Dennen has been an ethnomusicology graduate student at UC Davis since 2008; previously he received his BA degree from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. His primary research concerns the modern development and institutionalization of music in Orissa, India; but he is also interested in issues of technology and intercultural transmission, nationalism and (post)colonialism as they affect cultural practices. As a musician David is a student of Hindustani and Odissi flute under Professor Mohini Mohan Patnaik of Orissa.
