UC Davis jazz director Delbert Bump has established himself in the musical world as a performing artist playing piano, keyboards, and jazz organ. He has released seven CDs and a number of other recordings representing various aspects of his unique performance and compositional style. He is a jazz educator of the highest caliber, having the experience of teaching at the college level for more than 30 years. Bump has written for big bands, combos, television, and radio, and he has received numerous awards. His output as a composer with respect to the jazz literature is significant. Currently, he maintains a full schedule as a performer, locally and nationally; as a teacher at Solano Community College and here at UC Davis; and as the leader of an organ trio, a latin sextet, and an organ-driven big band. |
