Elisabeth Testa
Elisabeth (Lis) Testa entered the doctoral program in ethnomusicology at UC Davis in fall 2006. She came to UC Davis after completing her bachelor's degree in music education and master's degree in percussion performance at San Francisco State University, where she studied under Dave Rosenthal, principle percussionist for the San Francisco Ballet.
Lis loves to play drums, and she is currently an active taiko drummer and a member of UC Davis Samba School. Her main research interests are taiko drumming and embodiment. Lis is the recipient of many awards, including the Marcelle Vernazza Scholarship for Studies in Music Education (SFSU, 2002), the Graduate Student Distinguished Achievement Award (SFSU, 2005), and the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award (UCD, 2009).
